Leonotis nepetaefolia R. Br. (Laminaceae) is an attractive, symmetrical, annual medicinal plant. A brief description of the plant is described in the present article. The plant is believed to be a native of Africa and the distribution extends to tropical Asia and America. It has been cultivated in Brazil since long. The plant seems to have naturalized in India. Traditionally, the leaf is used in rheumatic affections and also serves as a tonic. Flower heads are used against scalds, burns, ringworm, and some skin diseases. Crushed ischolar_main is applied locally for facilitating breast milk to a mother after childbirth. Seeds are used in fever. It has also got the anticancer, antioxidant and antibacterial properties. In India, it grows wild but not common. In recent years, India has given due attention on this plant to develop it's agrotechniques for commercial cultivation. Accordingly, responsibilities were entrusted with the NBPGR Regional Station, Shillong since 1999.- Ectomycorrhizal Status and Growth of Khasi Pine (Pinus kesiya, Royle ex. The ectomycorrhizal progagules in the disturbed land of Cherrapunjee were found to be very low, as reflected in the initial growth of Pinus kesiya seedling. The growth performance of the seedling inoculated with ectomycorrhizal ischolar_mains was significantly higher (P < O.05) than that of the non-inoculated (Control) ones. The use of selected ectomycorrhizal ischolar_mains, as inoculum in pine seedlings prior to plantation may be attempted for afforestation in this area.- Requirement of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal (Glomus mosseae) Inoculum for Optimum Growth of Tree Seedlings in Lateritic Soil

Application of Arbuscular mycorrhizae, as preinoculation in nurseries, is an effective tool for afforestation in dry regions. Three vastly used test crops-including Acacia auriculiformis, Leucaena leucocephala and Delonix regia were selected to standardise the doses on inoculums. Growth parameters were found enhanced over control at 180th day accordingly with the quantity of inoculum, but increment from 15 to 25 g inocula treatment was not significantly varied. Hence, 15g or 20g may be taken as standard for this soil type. Keywords
